I’ve spent more than 25 years in TV news, most of it with a camera on my shoulder or a timeline in front of me. I learned to edit on 3/4-inch tape, then Beta SP, then DVCPro, and today I cut in Edius. The tools changed. The job didn’t: find the moment, get it clean, and get it on the air on time. Since October 2023 I’ve done that as a news videographer and editor at WVTM-13 in Birmingham.

The newsroom taught me speed and judgment. Live events taught me nerve. From 2013 to 2016 I shot, designed and edited concert video for Live Nation at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre, including the concert series and Rewind Fest, the kind of work where the show happens once and you’d better have it. For Igniting A Nation I handle graphics, camera, green-screen keying and the edit. I built the graphics and edit for The Codist trailer. I also shoot and cut my own work, from commercials and real-estate tours to band performance videos, and I fly drones. Lately I’ve added AI prompt engineering to the toolkit.

Before most of that, there was my voice. In 2005 I voiced Jason the Crab, Icarus the Pelican, the Genie in the amphora, two teasing fish and the old octopus in the animated series Ripples, which still airs in Italy, Asia and Australia. I’ve been doing characters my whole life; I count more than 400 voices and accents. I record and clean my own reads, myself.

And there has always been music. I’ve spent 35 years as a session player, cover-band musician and singer, and I can match a lot of famous voices. Now I’m writing and releasing my own songs under my full name, Mark Jason Bradley, starting with The War Within and BOX 13 and, in 2026, The Enigma of Me, Lingering On and Blades And Keys.

What ties it together is craft. I learn fast, especially with my hands on the gear. I read people well, and I can usually find the humor in a tense room. I’m a father, a husband and a grandfather, and I care about the people I work with getting better and winning together.
